The Larry Corse Prize for Playwriting


The prize was established in 2003 and four winners have been selected so far from the
over 300 entries received each year from around the world.

  • 2003 Robert Karmon for Caliban and Miranda. This prize and production were
    in collaboration with Clayton State University.


  • 2004 William Missouri Downs for Seagulls in a Cherry Tree. The prize and productions
    are now being offered in collaboration with Columbus State University Theatre.


  • 2005 Ian Walker for The Gravedigger's Tango

  • 2006 Kevin Christopher Snipes for The Chimes

    For the recently completed 2006 competition, nine finalists
    were sent to the theatre faculty at Columbus State University.
    The finalists were

    The official rules for the competition for the 2008 prize will be
    posted sometime in February of 2008 with a deadline of April 10, 2008.
    The rules will be posted here and on the Columbus State Theatre website.
    Columbus State University Theatre

    Columbus State Theatre has decided to sponser the
    competition every other year. Because of this, I am
    looking for a theater who might be interested in
    bringing the winner to a stage for a short run in the
    in the years between the productions by Columbus State.
